What is a project lifecycle?
person Author: Process Fellows
A project lifecycle typically consists of a sequence of defined phases, beginning with project initiation and concluding with project closure. These phases follow a logical progression and are structured around key milestones that serve as checkpoints for evaluating progress and alignment. An iterative or incremental approach can be embedded within the lifecycle to support incremental development and adaptability.
To ensure consistency and alignment: Externally defined customer milestones (e.g. delivery dates) must be mapped to internal project milestones. This mapping should ensure that both sets of milestones are synchronized and support transparent planning and reporting.
